Tempting Time

Modern eight-string djent tone — Ibanez RG2228 into a Fractal Axe-Fx with a high-gain Mesa-style amp model. Extreme tightness on palm-muted low B chugs, with the upper strings articulate enough for tapped harmonics and arpeggios. Active EMG humbuckers give a clinically precise attack with no flubby low end. The tone is scooped at 500Hz, boosted at 3kHz for clarity. Layered with clean piano-like passages using the same guitar.

The secret sauce

Tosin uses thumb attack on the low strings (thumb pick or just thumb flesh) — that's why the bass strings sound percussive without being scratchy. A flat pick on the low B can't articulate this fast.
