Home Is Where My Head Is

Modern shoegaze wall — multiple high-gain Big Muffs into a Fender amp with a Strymon Big Sky drowning everything in shimmer reverb. The chord is barely audible underneath the texture. Single-coil pickups give the wall a glassy sheen that humbuckers can't replicate. Lower octave layered underneath. The fuzz isn't tight like a thrash tone; it's bloomed-out and washing over the top of the mix.

03Field note

The secret sauce

Two amps in stereo — slightly different reverb settings on each — fills out the stereo field in a way no single rig can. The shimmer reverb's pitched feedback creates a key center that the chord doesn't have to spell out.
